To ensure that user permissions are correctly configured, Drivetrain provides a powerful feature that allows administrators to view the product as a specific user.
It enables admins to:
Verify role assignments: Confirm that users have been assigned the appropriate roles based on their responsibilities.
Test permissions: Check if users can access the correct parts of the system and perform the necessary actions.
Identify and resolve Issues: Identify any discrepancies or errors in permissions and take corrective action.
Navigate to user management page Go to the "Users" section of Drivetrain.
Select a user Choose the user whose permissions you want to review.
Click 'View as user' Hover your mouse pointer over the desired user's name and click on the kebab icon ( the vertical ellipsis ⋮ )
Select View as user Click the "View as User" option from the dropdown menu.
Observe the user interface: An orange chip will appear at the top of the screen indicating that you are viewing the system as the selected user. You can click on the "X" button on the chip to exit the view as user mode.
Explore the system Navigate through Drivetrain as the selected user.
Verify access Check if the user can access the expected parts of the system and perform the necessary actions.
Adjust permissions If necessary, modify the user's role or permissions to ensure correct access.
By following these steps, administrators can effectively review user permissions and ensure that users have the appropriate access to perform their tasks within Drivetrain.
