Understanding permissions in roles

You can grant specific privileges via permission settings under each entity for a role

Types of permissions

  1. No access: Users cannot access the entity.

  2. Read access: Users can view the entity but cannot modify it.

  3. Contributor access: (For Lists and Models only) Users can manually input values but cannot change the structure.

  4. Full access: Users can perform all actions on the entity.

Entity-specific permissions

Reports

Permission Level
Description

No Access

No access to reports.

Full Access

Can view, edit, and share reports.

Read Access

Can only view the report. Can save a copy of the report and edit the new report.

With Read Access or Full Access, users receive permission to all metrics and duals of the metrics contained in the report.

Models

Permission Level
Description

No Access

No access to models.

Full Access

Can view, edit, create, and delete variables, scenarios in a model.

Read Access

Can view variables only.

Contributor

Can manually input values for variables; cannot write formulas.

With Read Access or Full Access, users receive permission to all metrics and duals of the metrics contained in the report.

Lists

Permission Level
Description

No Access

No access to lists.

Full Access

Can view, edit, create, and delete lists.

Read Access

Can view lists only; cannot edit.

Contributor

Can manually input values for rows; cannot change the list structure.

Dimensions

Permission Level
Description

Select values

Set to none by default.

You can specify selective values of the dimension to be accessible.

All values

Can access all values of the dimension.

Datasets

Permission Level
Description

No Access

No access to the dataset.

Read Access

Can view the dataset.

Metrics

Permission Level
Description

No Access

Metrics tab is not visible.

Full Access

Metrics tab is visible.

Access to metrics is determined based on access to reports.
