Understanding permissions in roles
You can grant specific privileges via permission settings under each entity for a role
Types of permissions
No access: Users cannot access the entity.
Read access: Users can view the entity but cannot modify it.
Contributor access: (For Lists and Models only) Users can manually input values but cannot change the structure.
Full access: Users can perform all actions on the entity.
Entity-specific permissions
Reports
No Access
No access to reports.
Full Access
Can view, edit, and share reports.
Read Access
Can only view the report. Can save a copy of the report and edit the new report.
Models
No Access
No access to models.
Full Access
Can view, edit, create, and delete variables, scenarios in a model.
Read Access
Can view variables only.
Contributor
Can manually input values for variables; cannot write formulas.
Lists
No Access
No access to lists.
Full Access
Can view, edit, create, and delete lists.
Read Access
Can view lists only; cannot edit.
Contributor
Can manually input values for rows; cannot change the list structure.
Note
All users get Full access to all lists by default unless access control is enabled for a specific list. Permissions are only set for lists that have access-control enabled.
When you enable access-control for a specific list, all other users will lose access except the users granted permission to that list.
Dimensions
Select values
Set to none by default.
You can specify selective values of the dimension to be accessible.
All values
Can access all values of the dimension.
Note
All users get Full access to all dimensions by default unless access control is enabled for a specific dimension. Permissions are only set for dimensions that have access-control enabled.
When you enable access-control for a specific dimension, all other users will lose access except the users granted permission to that dimension.
Datasets
No Access
No access to the dataset.
Read Access
Can view the dataset.
Metrics
No Access
Metrics tab is not visible.
Full Access
Metrics tab is visible.
